I don’t know about you guys, but I have hit a caffeine overload. My moto was always “I run on caffeine, and will power” however recently it just hasn’t been giving me the boost I need. That caffeine crash is hard to overcome, and those mid afternoon blues can leave you wishing you could crawl into bed, and never come out.
So I did some research, and did you know that way back in the 16th century the Aztecs used chia seeds for energy. Seriously they put it in everything. I tried it out, and guess what? Not only does it give you an amazing energy boost it gives you all kinds of other nutrients like omega 3, protein, iron, and fiber to name a few.
I haven’t been able to bring myself to try these seeds alone. I have however developed a pretty great smoothie recipe I am eager to share.
Fruit: cherries, blackberries, strawberries, blueberries. ( about 1 1/2 cups total)
2 scoops vanilla frozen yogurt
2 cups coconut water
2 tablespoons chia seed
Blend until smooth, and enjoy. If you’re a fan of berries this really is a must try. Not only do you get a healthy caffeine free energy boost. Its so easy to make, and tastes delicious.
